Asian Hornets are a species of hornet that originally came from areas near China, it is believed that a shipment from China to France in 2004 brought Asian hornets into Europe. Since then, they have moved to the UK and have been sighted in most English counties and parts of Scotland and Ireland.

These insects pick off bees one by one until a large number of hornets arrive and raid the hive killing every bee and stopping honey production. If you ever see an Asian hornet download the Asian Hornet Watch App and report it and its location. You can find Asian hornets almost anywhere now but do not mistake them for a European hornet or Giant Japanese Hornet. You can tell the difference by looking at the legs - asian hornets have very distinctive yellow legs that no other hornet has.
